Chavez Says He Voiced Hope for U.S. Thaw
Venezuela leader Hugo Chavez says he told U.S. official that he hopes for better relations
CARACAS, Venezuela, Jan. 14, 2007

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Saturday he had personally expressed hope to a high-ranking U.S. official for better relations between their t...pt "the new realities of Latin America," as he brushed aside restrictions that limit presidents to two consecutive terms. He vowed to stay in office beyond 2013, when his term expires, saying he would revise the constitution to get rid of presidential term limits.
He also said he would immediately submit a request to congress for a new law to allow him to enact legislation by decree.

When Sharon gets an inch

`When Sharon gets an inch, he takes a mile'
In a kind of open letter to President George W. Bush, MK Yossi Sarid (Merezt) asks that the U.S. not leave the fate of its friends in the hands of Sharon and Arafat - who unwittingly plays into Sharon's hands.
Meretz MK Yossi Sarid says half-seriously, half-jokingly, that after his op-ed piece appears today in The New York Times, the Shin ...nst Arafat, went to town when Arafat said 'we're all Mohammed al-Dura.' Anyone who wasn't here for the last year would have thought that the little boy from Gaza, shot dead in the cross-fire at the Erez junction in the early days of the intifada, was at the very least the military commander of Islamic Jihad. It's as if Arafat doesn't already really say plenty that damages his surroundings.

NYC Mayor Bloomberg sees money in AZ bill

NYC Mayor Bloomberg sees money in AZ bill
“…New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has already started to court people like @Renard98 and other business travelers and groups who dislike Arizona's new law.
"We're happy to have those businesses and tourists come here," Bloomberg said, according to local Phoenix TV station ABC15.com.
Bloomberg said that the "bill signed into law today ...themselves to potential run-ins with the police."
Washington D.C.-based meetings consultant Joan Eisenstodt told me in an email this morning that convention and visitor bureau organizations in Arizona "worked hard to make this bill NOT pass" for this very reason….
Ah, Bloomberg and his money. Forget the people who are fighting each other over immigration, they can fend for themselves
